Thanksgiving report

Hello hello!

We hope you all had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving. Now we're to the count down for Christmas...woo-hoo!

We went camping at Chicot State Park for Thanksgiving. Chris' parents pulled their camper out there too, and we camped right next to each other. Its the first time we've been camping with Preston. Some of you may remember we tried back in May or June, and the camper wouldn't pop-up. Anywho, since then it has been repaired and eagerly awating a camping trip! We all had so much fun and the weather was perfect!! Preston loves being outside so this was his ideal trip. We just set up his pack n play inside the screened in tent and he was content practically all day. Friday Jay, Danielle, Jon, and Maddie (the dog) came out. We did some hiking and fishing, but we didn't catch anything. Then we grilled burgers, built a fire, roasted marshmallows for smores and Jay and Danielle spent the night. Preston was super fussy and did not want to go to bed that night. We did not figure out the source of the problem until we got home. He was cutting his top 2 teeth. One came through Monday, and I'm sure the other is gonna pop through by the end of the week. When we got home Saturday we, of course, cleaned up the camper, washed what needed washing and got everything put up. Then Jay and Danielle and Mike Voohries (a friend of Jay's) came over for dinner, football, and some games. Danielle showed us her own recipe for chicken enchiladas and oh-mi-goodness....they were delicious!! We had some yummy guacamole too since you just have to have it with enchiladas. Preston was scared of Mike's voice. For those of you who do not know Mike, he has a very very deep voice. It was really funny. He would stare at Mike and when Mike would say something Preston would get his pouty lip and we could tell he was trying to hold in the cries. After a few minutes he was used to him.

Sunday Chris preached for a seminary friend in Fort Polk. Preston and I stayed here and went to CWOW because I had nursery duty. Monday Chris had school all day, and yesterday Chris and Jeff Cook drove to Shreveport to pick up some preschool and children's furniture for CWOW. Broadmoor Baptist got all new furnishings, so they are giving away the old stuff. They packed all they could in the church trailor and headed home. So Chris has been on the road the last few days, and he's glad to be at home today.

Hhhmmmm...what else?
Mike and Barb went back to Little Rock to pick up their furniture and stuff. They are finally finished with the painting and flooring and ready to move in.
My parents had Thanksgiving too even though its not a holiday in Qatar. Check it out on their blog. (Look under Links to the right). They went on a fishing trip too.
We still have all of our Christmas shopping to do, but we've got plenty of time. Preston is a very good shopper, and its always fun to spend money!
We decorated our tree last night. It looks wonderful. Preston thinks so too....so I'm sure he'll be keeping me busy getting into it. We're gonna try to take a family picture by it tonight. I'll post it if we do.

And, saving the best for last, what has Mr. Preston been up to?

He's been a very busy boy.
He's got 3 teeth now, and one more soon to come. He's crawling everywhere. He has a shoe fetish. It doesn't matter who's shoe it is. He has always liked shoes. My shoes, stranger's shoes, his shoes, shoes on feet, or shoes off feet. (That was beginning to sound like a Dr. Seuss rhyme) He tries to follow the dogs around when they come in for the evening. Maggie is leery of him because he pulls her ears. Maggie is sensitive about people pulling her ears. He discovered Maggie's ball, but Maggie is frustrated that he won't throw it for her. He discovered the refrigerator and dishwasher and everything else he's not supposed to touch or get into. He also broke a vase Chris made in a pottery class a few years back.....oops! He loves his baths and rolls around, crawls around, and stands up in the tub. (Anything but be still so that I can actually wash him). He keeps me busy. He's pulling up on anything and everything, and as a result has had some nice bumps on his head. He's also been standing on his own some. The longest I've seen him do it was about 10 seconds. He's still a very happy boy, and so much fun for us.

Here's some of the latest and greatest pics....

Eating a wire he is allowed to chew on
Eating his rubber ducky and standing in the tub....little stinker
Snuggling with his sock monkey and wearing his snowsuit we got for our ski trip
Preston VS Grass......not something he wants to try again today
Watching the dogs
His favorite thing right now......the FMC box (this one is his favorite)

Thanksgiving afternoon nap

Love to you all

GREAT pictures of Mr. Preston! I love reading about his progress and hearing what you and Chris are up to, also. I miss seeing you guys since your mom left. Would you like to do lunch with us sometime? Lynn and Carolyn and I get together still and would love to see you and Preston. We'll call you next time we set up a lunch date. Elaine (aka NanE)

Those are some great pictures. He is growing so fast. He will be walking so soon. Better start putting everything up. Hopefully no more broken things. I noticed the tree is on a table. I am going to have to have some of Danielle's enchiladas next time we are home.
Love,
Mom
