In the south we experienced rainy days when the kids had to be cooped up in the house, and I'm sure in other parts of the lower 48 they experience snow days. Here, we just have frigid days. So I thought I'd share with you some of the things we do for Frigid Day Activities that have helped keep the kids entertained when we can't play outside.
We made a bean box. Dump some beans in a tote, grab some cups spoons, small toys to hide, etc. Its been a big hit around here.
We also got an indoor swing and trapeze bar. They hang (one at a time) from this super strong bar that is mounted in the doorway. All 3 kids love to swing on it. I think we've already gotten our money's worth.
We play 'P.E'. This is a really good energy buster. I give the boys random missions to accomplish which involves lots of running, walking, hopping, etc. all over the house doing silly things or acquiring specific items. Its also really good practice for following directions. We've come up with some pretty creative ideas, and then other times they just run laps or play relay type games. Cara even tries to join them.
We invite friends over for snack and play time.
We go swimming at the pool. Family swim is always scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Swimming for the whole family for 1.5 hours and hot showers for $3. Who can beat that? And don't forget, we have an awesome water slide.

Looks like you are surviving the cold pretty well. I am glad you have the nice big house.
Papa said Cara needs a hard hat when she is swinging.
Still love that swing. Sounds like you are keeping the boys busy so that is great. I know you are ready for the little warm up you should be getting soon.
we used to do the "bean box" all the time!
