Spring Carnival

I hope you can get a taste for Spring Carnival which took place March 24-25 through these pictures.  We had a blast!  This first pic above is Chris finally reaching the clear water of the Yukon after picking and shoveling for 14 minutes.  It sure didn't sound like fun to me, but he really enjoyed getting to compete this year, after watching it last year.
 Go Chris!

These cute little ladies are Ruth, Cara boo and Naomi.  They were all chanting "Go Daddy" for their daddy s racing in the Snowshoe Sprint race (pic below).  It was quite adorable, and they had to be shushed so that someone could give the directions to the competitors.

That's our smiley boy!  Clint really had fun in the snowshoe race.  Good job Clint!
Sorry, my pics are backwards in chronological order.  This pic below is where they lined up to race.

And here's P in his race.  Preston actually raced in big snowshoes instead of the little kiddy aluminum ones.  He did really well.  We are proud of you Preston!

Preston in his snow shoes.  He wanted to keep them on for the rest of the day.  Notice the yellow coat, red hat, and orange balaclava?  I was hoping we wouldn't lose him in the crowd.  I still lost him for awhile, but it did help me relocate him.

Cara boo and Isaiah were having a contest to see which one of them could eat the most snow.  It was hilarious to watch!

This year there were sled dog races for kids too.  Preston actually got to race with one dog (younger kids got fewer dogs to pull them) but I missed the whole thing.  Here's a friend racing with 3 dogs. Its pretty exciting to see the eagerness in the dogs.  They cannot contain their excitement while they wait to begin the race.
Other cool things about the Spring Carnival.  There were also ski races for all ages and genders, a pop scramble, scavenger hunt, and kiddy machine races.  Instead of trophies for the kid races, this year each child that participated won a meal from the concessions.  Adults won money.  I was able to claim Chris' award from ice picking since he was busy preparing for the big finale of the weekend.  A homemade explosive that launched a 50 gallon barrel into the air.  It was neat to watch.  Video coming soon!

What is a pop scramble?

I would have loved to see Cara's snow eating contest. Looks like a lot of fun.

I was wondering what a pop scramble was too. Looks like everyone had fun! Looks cold, but you guys have plenty of clothes on that is for sure.

By the way, Preston's snow shoes are huge. Look like they are as big as he is. He is really growing up fast.
