Summer Adventures: Part 1

Our summer adventures have begun.  Mike and Barb were able to visit for a few weeks, and we had lots of time to enjoy with them, but it went by quickly.  They were here during the glorious season of warmth without bugs.  Ha!
Chris has been able to do a lot of beaver hunting.  This big guy wasn't cleaned right away, and the kids enjoyed examining and prodding him to a great extent.

When Chris brought the beaver home, Preston was finishing his last day of school and was eager to complete Kindergarten, but equally excited to watch his Daddy clean the beaver.  So, I agreed to let him take a break and watch since it was a first time experience.  I asked him to take the camera and get some pictures of what he saw so he could tell me about it.  Below, are some of the shots he took.  I guess when you're 4 and 6 its cool to pose with a beaver tail.

We also had fun at a hamburger cook off.  Our friend Keith had a birthday, and Tabitha decided a burger cook off was just the way to celebrate. So, every family brought enough burgers plus one for tasting by the judges.  It was really fun!

Chris and Keith wanted to set up a bear bait station this year. The kids wanted to be involved in helping Chris get ready, and this is as involved as they were gonna get.  It takes a lot of popcorn to fill a barrel, and they knew just how to help...
No bear's yet, but the bait is out.
One day we went out to the dunes (they overlook the river) for a picnic.  The weather was perfect, and the view was beautiful.

More adventures to come!

Great post. Great pics too. Nice to see a picture of the beaver. Love the ones Preston took. He is a pretty good photographer.
