Can it get any hotter?

I guess the answer to the title of this blog is, "Yes it can get hotter, but we hope that it won't!"

Just a short update for my readers.

Children's camp was actually a nice rest for me last week. My Mom came to watch all 12 of the dogs and to do a little preliminary packing. I'm so glad she was able to come. There was no way I could have gone with Chris without her taking care of the dogs. Of course camp was work for Chris. There were 50 Korean kids at the camp and the language barrier made things complicated and interesting to say the least. Overall, 6 kids accepted Christ so it was worth it.


We are down to 6 puppies. 4 went to their new homes this weekend. We hope the rest of them will find loving homes soon too. They are too cute though. Preston loves playing with them. We've been playing in the backyard in the mornings before for the heat gets terrible. Our wonderful oak tree provides plenty of shade. Anyways, the puppies chase Preston around and he just giggles and runs with them.

Chris is super busy with Building Project decisions, etc. But, this weekend is our 6 yr Anniversary so he is taking a mandatory break. Happy Anniversary to us. Our friend Aaron Francois is getting married Saturday and Chris has a part in the wedding so we'll be busy with that. Preston is staying with Mike and Barb Friday night while we go to Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner and get ourselves a hotel. We'll be in Lafayette, but I'm not complaining at all! Saturday we'll have all to ourselves, and then after the wedding we'll pick up Preston.

This past Sunday we were literally the Church WithOut Walls. We meet in the cafeteria at Ernest Gallet Elementary, and they are gearing up for school. The floors were being stripped and waxed, and they had planned to finish before Sunday. Well, it didn't happen. So Saturday Chris made phone calls and sent out a massive e-mail telling everyone we would meet at the church property under the tent. We managed to tolerate the heat and had an okay crowd. We were able to use the camper for the babies so that helped a lot. We just really need to get into our building. The tentative plan is that we will have a Certificate of Occupancy by the end of October. Time will tell.

Preston is doing great. He's got 12 teeth now, and he's pushing through 4 more. He has started talking more. He says lots of words, but Chris and I usually need to translate. His favorite consonant is definitely "d". We know this because apparently every word begins with "d". For example, our small dog is named "Daggie." I'm sure some of you were mistaken that her name is Maggie, but lately she has been answering to Daggie. Also, he plays with a "dah" (ball), goes "dye-dye" (bye-bye), and wears a "dat tat" (back pack). Lately he has been hugging his stuffed animals, patting them on the back and kissing them. Its pretty sweet. He's been giving us hugs too. He still loves his blankets, but isn't attached to any particular one. Really, anything with a tag will do. He is also our super terrific swimmer. He is definitely not afraid of the water. He loves swimming in his little pool and at Mike and Barb's. I just recently got him some of those arm floaties. He loves them! Now no one needs to hold on to him and he can have his own freedom to swim where he wants. Before the floaties he would pretty much drag me around the pool kicking his legs and moving his arms to maneuver his way through the water. I'm so glad that we got them for our little swimmer. We've got to get some pics and video of him swimming soon.
