Preston made it to Five!

Preston is 5! He thinks its cool that he is one whole hand. He's looking forward to school next year, and he does some school work at home now. He's learned most of his letters and numbers, and can even write them well. He really likes to draw, and can come up with some elaborate pictures. Sometimes he looks at a pictures and draws it, but other times he comes up with the ideas himself. He also enjoys cutting, pasting, and creating all kinds of things. I guess he gets his creativity from his Daddy. He has learned to play games now, and does a good job of sitting and waiting his turn (this was a major struggle in the past). He likes puzzles, anything outside, and reading books. My brothers got us a Wii recently, and he really likes playing that too. I finally let Preston give up his naps. He still takes them on the weekend, but during the week he's off the hook. He still doesn't sleep any longer at night, but its better this way. He helps me do dinner prep, or other chores, or we do some school work while Clint and Cara sleep. Oh, and he's learned how to unload the dishwasher. I like this new development! This afternoon he turned the crank on the sausage stuffer, while Chris made some link sausage. He loves doing anything to help Chris. He likes to pull Cara in the sled while we play outside, and he helps me with her in the house too. He is 45 1/2 inches tall, and weighs 44 pounds. He is still an excellent climber, and I keep reminding Chris he needs an indoor climbing structure to keep him out of trouble. He plays well with Clint and his other friends. He can be rough and tough, but his gentleness and thoughtfulness shows when he notices the kid sitting alone and initiates play with them. He's becoming very competitive and I'm curious to see what sports he's interested to try. He's got such a fun-loving personality and intense curiosity. It'll be interesting to see where this takes him.
