What do you mean only the 5 of us?

The last weekend in May we declared Sunday night family night.  The kids were a bit confused.  "Why can't so and so come over?  Who is coming over for dinner? Aaw, why does it have to be just our family?" It was time for a little fun with just the five of us.  We drove out to the dunes expecting to have the place to ourselves.  When we found other people had the same idea, we drove on to where the road ends in Galena.  I hadn't been out that far before, so we enjoyed the drive stopping as we pleased discovering little paths to explore and walk down.  We found some blueberry bushes here and there, which is exciting because now we know where to pick in the fall.  Cara was plopped down by a blueberry bush in the pic above.
My little explorers with their guide to reign them in.
We also found where water had eroded part of the road away, so we stopped when the truck could go no further and walked until we dead ended at the Yukon River.  The deep crevasses were so much fun for the kids to run and jump in and out of.  Clint is our runner of the family, and I had a difficult time getting any photos of him because it seems he ran the entire way.

See the boys up ahead of Cara in this one above?
We also found some really steep hills to climb and sort of slide and run down.  Its all sand, so not too tough on the tushies.  What fun we had exploring and playing as a family!  After some scrubbing work in the tub we finished off the night with coke floats.  We convinced the boys its not so bad spending time with just us.
