Eggs

Well, the chickens aren't frozen yet.  Actually they're doing really well.  Chris' design of the arctic coop is working really well so far. This past week our youngest chicken, Mary Jane, the black one, starting laying eggs.  I was so excited.  It was earlier than expected, and I was curious what color they would be.  Its a little difficult to tell in the pics, but they are chocolate brown.  Just beautiful!  So as you can see we get a variety of color.  The white eggs come from Alice. The brown from the other 4.
This is Preston holding the first Mary Jane egg.

This egg in the center is our biggest egg ever.  That is Chris' big hand in the picture and its nearly as long as his hand is wide.  The pic below gives you an idea of its size. We couldn't even close the egg carton.

Awesome. The one that lays the biggest eggs, is it because of the breed she is or because she is older or do you know? Just wondering because she some mammoth eggs. Interesting stuff y'all do there. Wilderness living right there in town.
