Vacation part 2

Our time with Louisiana family was great and went by faster than expected.  It was so wonderful to see so many friends and enjoy time with everyone. After leaving Lake Claiborne we drove over to Monroe to visit Chris and Brandy. While we were there the dads tried to carve pumpkins with the kids, but it turns out that the kids really just wanted to play. So it turned into a dad project instead. Ha ha!
We also got to celebrate Nathan's 5th birthday with cake while we were there.

Our next stop was East Texas to visit my grandparents. Nonna was still resting and recovering from a fractured hip (but she's   walking without her walker now and much better) when we visited, but we were so glad to get to see them.

From East Texas we went down to Houston to visit my family.

One thing on our 'things we hope to do on vacation' list was take the boys to an indoor rock climbing place. We left Cara with my mom and the twins one day and went off for our rock climbing adventure.

We spent the afternoon climbing and playing. It was a blast and the boys had a new experience.

Happy Halloween! We got to do a quick little trick or treating in Jay and Dee's neighborhood and then back at their house we played and decorated cookies. It was a really fun night.

November 1st we celebrated Nanny's 91st birthday a little early out at Aunt Pam's house. The kids played hard and we got to visit with Nanny for most of the day.

The kids expect to feed the neighbor's horses when we visit every time now. This time Cara was even brave enough to join in.

After an overnight in Lake Jackson to share at a church there, we spent the day in Galveston at Moody Gardens. We did a whole bunch of fun things like riding a paddle wheel boat, checking out a rain forest, touring an aquarium, watching a video in IMAX, and playing on a playground. Plus we saw the Gulf of Mexico. It was another fun vacation experience for the kids.

One day during school work, Ben wanted to join the boys so Preston got him all set up. So cute!

Preston reading a book to Clint and Pop.

These are the Black Bellied Whistling Ducks that always visit my parents back yard.

One day we all went out to visit Bob and Ann at the C6 ranch in Bryan/college Station. They had a day of fun planned for us. We roasted hot dogs, explored the pond by paddle boat, fed catfish, and got a tour by hay ride. Plus we had plenty of time to visit. What a great day!

I love these 2 trees in the field.

The Friday night before we left we got to go to a drive in movie theater. It was a first for Chris and I and something we've wanted to do. It was also a first for the kids. We had a blast! We showed up at dusk and got settled. The kids played on a playground while we got food to eat. I'd do it again some other time we visit!

Before we knew it, it was time to pack our bags and return to Alaska.

We said good byes at the airport and started the long flights home. Our vacation was so much exactly what we needed after our long summer of separation followed by a long season of hard work and rebuilding. We're so glad we were able to see all our family and have some fun times as well.

Awesome! Loved all of the pics. Especially the one of the 3 kids with. I believe that is the best picture I have seen in quite a while of her. Seems the kids had fun every single place they went. Glad you finally got this to load.
