Camping Report

Hello readers and picture viewers!
Just wanted to give an update on our wonderful camping trip. We left Friday afternoon and headed to Chicot State Park with Preston and the dogs in the backseat. We arrived safely and quickly set up the camper and all of our gear. We set up our kitchen station for cooking outside. I got started on cooking some Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya while Chris watched out for Preston. Preston had so much fun playing in the leaves, raking after learning how from watching me, running around exploring, and tasting the rocks (ewe) .Mike and Barb arrived and got their camper all set up, and then our friends Matt, Heather, and Micah Doucet arrived and got their tent assembled. We all sat down to enjoy some jambalaya, salad, and bread. MMMmmm it was good. We even had chocolate cake. Preston was covered in leaf debris, dirt, mud, and soot from the fire pit so he went straight to the dishpan for a bath. We all sat around the fire pit-we decided against the work of getting a fire going-and talked till bedtime. The weather was just perfect and we all slept well. The next morning we cooked pancakes and sausage and then slowly got everything cleaned up and picked up. We were pretty lazy most of Saturday just enjoying each other's company. We invited a bunch of friends to come out for a fish fry around lunch time. We had 10 for our fish fry. We haven't had fried fish in a very long time. I think we all ate our fill and we still had a couple of filets left over. Preston wasn't too excited about the fish, maybe next time. Saturday evening our friends left and we cleaned up and headed back to Lafayette. We got things ready for church and headed to bed. Sunday we went to church, ate lunch at CWOW's Buyin, and then drove back to Chicot. Sunday evening we went hiking in the woods and then grilled steaks. Monday was our fishing day. We fished mid morning, and then took a break for lunch and a movie. That evening we went back out for more fishing. We had a successful catch. We finished the day off with hamburgers, did some packing up, and then headed to bed early. Tuesday morning we got up, packed up, and rolled home. All in all it was a great trip. Hopefully we can get out one more time before the Builder's for Christ Volunteers come in June to build the Community Center, and before it gets too hot.
Here's a couple of other pictures from around the house...

I checked this right before you posted it I guess. Just finally checked it again. Sounds like you guys had a great weekend. Nice and relaxing. Hope you didn't get any poison ivy showing Preston how to roll in the leaves. A good thing for you to teach though. It sounds like he had a great time too. Hope to visit with you soon.
Love,
Mom
