Fall is here

Hi everybody....whew....it has been a little too long between posts. Since the last time you checked in with us....

We've been to Alaska, visiting with Chris' brothers, Greg and Jason, and their families. We survived our grueling flights there and back. Preston was a very good little traveler and had so much fun playing in the airports.....lots for a young boy to explore and see. Our DVD player was the best investment for our trip, well that and the umbrella stroller to keep him in one place during our layovers. He liked the new toys we got him especially for the long trip, but asked to watch his "movies." We had so much fun being with our family. Chris had a terrific time being in the wilderness and doing manly things like hunting bear and moose and camping with his favorite nephews, Caleb and Daniel. I enjoyed having little responsibility and sharing my days with my sister-in-laws, Kim and Amiee. My niece Kaylin was sooo wonderful in helping out with Preston, spoiling me with time to read and relax or help out in the kitchen. We enjoyed seeing all the cousins play together and have such a fun time. Unfortunately, Chris did not get to shoot his bear. His brother, Greg, did take a moose though. So, we ended up coming home with some moose meat rather than bear meat. All in all it was a relaxing trip not full of non-stop activity.

My parents watched the puppies while we were gone. Thanks Mom and Dad! And Jon kept Sam and Maggie. We missed them all while we were gone. Preston missed them too. He asked for Maggie a few times towards the end of the trip and actually searched the house for her. The pups grew a lot while we were gone, as puppies do.

We have one puppy left, and she should be finding a new home soon, as soon as we begin advertising this week.

Since we've been home, its been the usual...getting back on Louisiana time, catching up with friends and CWOW family, and Chris getting back into his work and school schedule. Preston was sick all weekend, but is doing better now. He had a virus, but is all well today. These are the things we enjoy about him right now: his love for reading and books; saying all kinds of new words; showing lots of affection; becoming more independent; being more obedient and getting less spankings; being still and snuggly after waking up; and being very helpful. He's reached the 18 month marker, and weighs about 25 lbs and is 34 inches tall. He likes to clean up and he even sings the little song like I do. Some of his new words are easy to understand, others are not.

We're very thankful that my pregnancy is going so well, and can't wait to meet our son in January. We haven't made the final decision on a name yet, so share your suggestions.

Love

I've been checking every day also. We all know by now that Chris didn't shoot a bear... ok... Did he happen to wrestle one into submission though?
