Meat

Yes, the title of this post is meat, but I won't be showing any moose quarters being cut up.  Check Chris' blog for that kind of thing.  ;)  This pic shows the results of my first time canning. I have watched/helped before and its pretty simple. It seems like the most difficult thing is learning how the pressure cooker operates.  Anywho, this meat will be great for casseroles, soups, moose nachos, etc.  I am very proud!

These pics are a result of Preston's 'experiment'.  He heard birds will eat animal fat so he collected some when the butchering was going on around our house.  It turns out that Chickadees and Grey Jays eat animal fat.  The chickadees are in the pics above, and the Grey Jay is below.

Feast your eyes upon some Moose Andouille Sausage.  Chris smoked his first sausage and it is fantastic.  He also smoked some meat sticks with the bear meat, but we already ate all those!!  Since the trial batch passed the taste testing, we'll be making a much bigger batch next year.

Looks like you got the pressure cooker figured out really easily. Hope it all takes really good!
I didn't know y'all had chickadees. Don't know a thing about gray jays but bet it is fin to watch them. We had our first chickadees couple of weeks ago. Pretty little birds. Sure didn't know they eat animal fat. Good experiment, Preston!
The sausage looks great, too. Can't believe y'all ate all of the bear sticks? Guess they were really good! Glad y'all are set for winter meat and all.
