The Butterfly Garden

We visited the Butterfly Garden at the Houston Museum of Natural History. It was really amazing. Initially, we planned our day to arrive just as it was opening, but when we got there it was closed for cleaning. So with 2 hours to kill we explored outside and found a train to ride, and we did just that. We also found a lake with ducks of all kinds and let the boys burn off plenty of energy with a long walk. We had just enough time to eat lunch at the Mc Donalds in the museum before the doors opened.




As we were exploring outside we found this giant sundial. It was really cool for me and Chris to check out since none of the kids have a good grasp on time yet. Ha ha! And they had a beautiful fountain to keep the kids out of.

Preston still really likes the dinosaur bones. He wanted to go to that part of the museum too. Luckily, we found one in the gift shop.

I think these kids are pretty cute

We saw lots of beetles, and they were all really big! We saw tarantulas and scorpions, and cockroaches. Clint really likes bugs, and he was enthralled by all the different kinds he could watch. Cara was also very entertained by the spiders, particularly, but the big beetles too. This surprised me, but when I thought about it, she has always liked spiders.



The indoor butterfly garden is 5 stories high and full of butterflies and all kinds of tropical plants and flowers. It was really amazing.

I wish these flowers grew in Galena!
