Happy Birthday Clint

Clint Bradley turned 5 on January 23rd, and I'm glad to finally be putting these pictures up for you to see.  We started the day off with smoothie and pancakes followed immediately with opening gifts from family.  Chris says he gave up his birthday the day Clint was born, but we celebrated for him too!  Since the day fell on a Wednesday, we waited to have our big celebration with friends on the weekend.  But back to the birth-day family celebration.  We finished off the day with root beer floats (ice cream is always a very special treat in Galena because its expensive) and watched the Tin Tin movie together-one of his new gifts.  It was a fun little time for our family.

Saturday we celebrated with friends for Clint's birthday.  Clint wanted to play games with friends and he chose blueberry pie as his choice for 'cake'.  So for games we played 'Batman, Batman, Robin' (also known as duck duck goose). We also played 'Pin the mask on the Batman'.

Then we busted the pinata.  Chris and I made it, which was a lot of fun and actually lasted for everyone to get a turn.  We made it out of cereal boxes, taping the pieces together and then decorating it with construction paper and crepe paper.  It was a hit. hee hee.

Pie and ice cream time.  The evening before the party I hosted a Baking Night for girls from the dorms.  It was a blast.  We made some Ooey Gooey Karo Crispers, a recipe from Linsey Loftis that I got years ago, and still use.  They were able to completely enjoy these while we took a break.  Then there were a few girls who were willing to help me bake the blueberry pies for Clint's party.  They did such a great job! We'll definitely be doing this again.

And here's the birthday boy himself, my big 5 year old, Clint Bradley!  We love this boy so much.  Clint is such a fun kid.  He likes to keep us laughing.  He is eager to learn, and enjoys his schoolwork.  He loves all our pets, even all the chickens.  I often catch him nabbing a chicken and carrying it around outside the coop.  The ladies probably do not appreciate it since its so cold.  He has an intense liking for sports and books.  He loves playing boy stuff with Preston, but also loves playing with Cara too, usually whatever she wants to play.  This boy can make some amazing sound effects.
Happy Birthday Clint! We love you and are so proud of you!

The evening of the party we celebrated Chris' birthday with just a few remaining friends and family.  We had shrimp and okra gumbo and Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake.  Oh so yummy!  Happy Birthday Chris! I am so glad God gave me you!
