Easter weekend:Spring Carnival and Easter Celebration

Easter weekend was full of activity here in Galena.   It started off with the Kids Club Easter Celebration.  All the kids in the community look forward to this event each year.  We have a short message about Jesus death and resurrection, an egg hunt, and special snacks.  (Cara and Preston are on the right-above. Clint is below)

Just a short time after the party, we headed over to Alexander Lake for the beginning of Spring Carnival.  The boys each did the ski race for their age group.  Preston went to cross country ski practice this spring, and he was looking forward to his race.  Clint hasn't been on skis before, but he was eager to try it out. Clint is the one in the bright yellow hat.

Preston is on the left.

After the ski races, we headed home and had time to dye some eggs.  Preston was most interested in this project, which isn't surprising to me.  Cara and Clint helped out for a short time, but found more interesting things to play while Preston carried on and had fun experimenting with mixing colors and such.

On Saturday, we again headed out to Alexander Lake for more fun.  Chris was out cutting wood, but met us there.  The kids each took a turn with the one dog sled race, which is a short ride for even the smallest kiddos.  The older kids had more dogs and longer distances to race.  It was all great fun to watch, and next year we're thinking of letting Sugar pull. Cara, Clint, and Preston all participated in their age group for the snow shoe race, and each one won first place.  They had lots of fun, and everyone who participates wins a free meal from the concession stand, so what's not to love about that?

Sunday morning we returned to Alexander Lake again, but not for any races.  We had our Easter service out on the frozen lake.  It was just beautiful.  We had a shorter service than normal as it was still full snow gear weather.  Afterwards some of the guys grilled burgers for everyone and we enjoyed potluck inside the Community hall.  What a great day of worshiping together and remembering Jesus resurrection!

Fun to see the kids participating in all of the fun. I bet it was beautiful and a bit nippy at Easter service, but very special. Love all of the pics!!!
